Born Shame Manda in Mutare, Zimbabwe, he grew up listening to Soul, RnB, Hip Hop and House. He credits producers such as Franky Knuckles, P Diddy and Dr Dre as his early influences. After relocating to South Africa in 2001, MandaBrat got introduced to the booming house scene in that country and he developed a keen interest in the production of House music.
He now credits some of his inspiration and influences on local producers such as Black Coffee, Ralf Gum, Oskido, Chynamusique, DaCapo and veteran DJs such as Glen Lewis, Vinny DaVinci, Fresh and Christos. Internationally, the styles of Vic Lavender, Satin Jackets, Arthur White, Nora En Pure, Sons of Maria, and Eddie LeFunk.
He aims to break into the competitive world house music scene and if the stats are anything to go by, the appreciation of his music bears testament by being chosen to play before Hardwell at a pool party hosted to welcome Dutch DJs who were playing at the Ultra festival in 2018.
